-What motivated you
to join this company?

The primary reason I joined this company was the opportunity to leverage my offshore development experience while taking a hands-on approach to project leadership with a high degree of autonomy. I had already gained experience as a project manager in my previous role, but I was especially drawn to this environment where I could be involved from the upstream planning phase all the way through development and operations.

What also impressed me was the company’s established culture of maintaining high quality standards even while actively utilizing an offshore development model. The forward-looking attitude toward change and the emphasis on individual autonomy gave me confidence that I could continue to grow professionally here. Additionally, the personalities and atmosphere of the team members I met during the interview process left a strong positive impression and became a deciding factor in my decision to join.

-Can you tell us about
your current responsibilities?

Currently, I serve as a Senior Manager overseeing multiple internal product development projects. I am responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of these projects—from initiation to completion—and also take part in their ongoing maintenance and operation. My work involves a wide range of tasks, including requirements definition, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, and quality assurance. I also communicate closely with stakeholders to ensure timely and transparent updates on project progress.

-What do you prioritize
in project management?

Building strong relationships of trust with team members and setting clear, shared goals are the two things I value most. To ensure the team can work together toward a common objective, I hold regular meetings and one-on-one sessions to maintain open communication. When problems arise, I respond promptly, conduct thorough root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to ensure the quality and timely delivery of projects.

-What is unique about
managing offshore development?

Our offshore development is conducted in close collaboration with our team in the Philippines. Effective communication that takes into account differences in language and culture is essential. That’s why we work closely with bridge engineers and project managers to clearly communicate specifications and manage progress. We also take care to account for differences in time zones and holidays, allowing us to make flexible schedule adjustments and maintain a smooth development workflow.

-What are the main challenges
in offshore development,
and how do you address them?

The main challenges are communication gaps and difficulties in quality control. To address these, we have implemented the following measures:

・Clear documentation: We prepare detailed specifications and design documents, and use translation tools to ensure multilingual support.
・Regular meetings: We use video calls and chat tools to share updates and issues consistently.
・Standardized quality management processes: We have standardized steps like code reviews and testing phases to ensure consistency in quality.

These efforts help us minimize the challenges of offshore development and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects.
